Self-Portraits:
Students had to introduce themselves to me at the beginning of the year through the form of poetry and visual arts. After they wrote their "I Am" poem descriptively describing themselves, they then had to draw their own self-portraits using the art elements of line and shape and in the style of Picasso. We then used watercolor paint to add more "character."
Norman Rockwell Tableaus and Virtual Tableau
Students had to interpret their painting to create a central idea. They then created a tableau of events leading up to or occurring after the event.
Roald Dahl's Boy: Tales of Childhood is anything but dull from the disgusting Mrs. Pratchett to the horrible Matron. The students picked scenes throughout the story to create tableaus.
