Classroom Policy Sheet
The Physical Education Department at Academir welcomes each and every one of you back for another exciting year. For those of you that are new to the Tiger "Family," we trust that you will find your tenure here a very productive one and also, one that you will be proud to be a part of. One of our primary objectives is to allow students to experience competitive and non-competitive activities as well as individual and team activities while developing good social behavior with other students.
Our rules in Physical Education are as follows:
1) Uniform/Dress-out Rule: All students are required to dress out in the proper P.E. uniform (rain or shine). The uniform for class is:
A) GYM SHORTS: physical education uniform shorts
B) GYM SHIRT: physical education uniform t-shirt
C) GYM SHOES: ATHLETIC SHOES ONLY!! No sandals, sport sandals, boots, or dress shoes will be accepted.
* On colder days, sweatpants and sweatshirts may be worn only if you are wearing your uniform underneath. Shorts must be proper length and around your hip.
2) Tardiness/Restroom Procedure: All students must be inside the restrooms
when the late bell rings!! Students who are late will receive alternate assignments.
The only exception that will be made is if an official pass from a teacher, administrator, or security staff is given to the teacher. Students are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion while in the locker room.
3) Coach/Student Relationships: Students must stay with their Instructor or in their designated area at all times. The Instructor will determine what form of discipline will be administered for students who are not in their designated area. Passes to other areas of the school will only be given in emergencies and at the Instructor's discretion. Students who leave class without permission will be considered to be cutting class or "skipping" and will be sent to the proper administrator for disciplinary action.
4) Restroom Procedure: All students should use the restroom before class begins!! The bathrooms will be closed. Only students with extreme emergencies will be allowed to use the restroom.
5) Testing Procedures: Final Exams will be handed to each student at the end of each semester.
Physical Fitness testing will take place twice each school year. The components of the tests are: Sit and Reach, Mile Run, Pushups, Skinfold Measurement, Trunk Lift, and Curl-ups.
6) Safety Procedures: Safety is a major concern to both the Instructors and the students. Always keep in mind to move under control and watch for others. Report any and all injuries that occur during class immediately to your Instructor. Handle the equipment with care. Treat the equipment and the facilities in an appropriate manner. Climbing the fence, climbing on the equipment, swinging from the tree, and excessive horseplay are all prohibited.
7) Participation/Sportsmanship: You are expected to fully participate in all of the activities to the best of your ability. Do what you are supposed to do, even when the teacher isn't looking. Treat others as you want to be treated, respect yourself and others. Listen to when the teacher is talking, don't interrupt the teacher or other classmates.
8) Whistle: Stop, look, and listen when you hear your Instructor’s signal (whistle) and proceed after instructions have been given.
9) Electronic Devices: Cell phones, IPODS, MP3 Players, and any other electronic devices will be confiscated and handed over to the appropriate administrator. Do not bring those items to P.E. We will not be responsible if they are lost or stolen.
10) Absences/Sickness: The student is responsible for providing an admit note from the office to the teacher after an absence. If the student is feeling ill, he/she must still dress out, although participation in class activities will be to your Instructor's discretion.
Any serious or life threatening health issues need to be brought up to the Instructor's attention immediately, accompanied by a doctor's note. A parent/teacher conference will then be scheduled in order to review the child's health issue.
