⭐️Instructors/teachers may find that the Canvas + PowerSchool Sync will not sync properly until after the first assignment is graded within Canvas. After creating categories in PowerTeacher Pro you must wait 24 hours for those categories to sync over to Canvas before you can finish setting up your grade book sync. Additionally, you cannot sync your PowerTeacher Pro categories until the first day of the Term/Semester. After waiting 24 hours and until the first day of the term, you can sync your PowerTeacher Pro categories to your Canvas Assignment Groups.
Key Points for Canvas + PowerSchool Sync:
Category Setup: Create categories in PowerSchool first, then import them into Canvas.
Category Matching: Ensure categories match across cross-listed courses.
Category Association: Associate categories within cross-listed courses for syncing.
Manual Sync Initiation: Start the sync manually to enable nightly sync.
Assignment Due Dates: Set due dates for all assignments.
Grading Period Alignment: Keep assignments within the current grading period. (cannot exceed)
Unique Assignment Names: Use unique names for each assignment.
Assign to Everyone or Sections: Assign assignments to specific sections or all students. (Currently, differentiated assignments, such as individual student assignments or MasteryPaths, are not supported)
Assignment Name Length: Limit names to 30 characters.
Grade Conversion: Canvas points will be converted to PowerSchool percentages based on weighted categories.
Submission Status: Submissions with a Late status cannot be synced, and submissions with a Missing or Excused status without a score will sync as '0'.
