Vision Screenings are provided for all 3rd and 5th Grade Students. You will need to "Opt Out" in Infinite Campus if you do not want your child to get a vision screening.
The Colgate Dental Van will visit the school for students in Pre-K through 5th grade. This program is sponsored by Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Program. A local dentist will exam the students, they will receive some dental health information, and toothbrush/info to bring home. This is only a visual exam - no treatments are included in this visit. Students must have a signed permission form to be able to visit the Dental van. Contact the Nurse if you need a permission form
Alamance County Children's Dental Health Portable Clinic is another dental resource that we have to offer here at AWE. This program assists with those who do not currently have a dentist. It can also be of assistance if there are barriers to getting to the dentist, such as transportation/work schedules/etc. Consents are sent home at the beginning of the year and they will reach out to parents individually. When they bring their mobile unit to school, they can perform cleanings, x-rays, fillings, sealants, and even extractions! This is such a wonderful program.
