Pearson Testing for North Carolina: Foundations of Reading and General Curriculum - for Elementary Education and Exceptional Children: General Curriculum licenses only.
Foundations of Reading is a computer-based test comprised of 100 multiple-choice questions and 2 open-response assignments. Passing score: 229.
The General Curriculum test includes two subtests. Candidates must take and pass both subtests to qualify for a North Carolina license. You may take one or both subtests at one test appointment. The Multi-Subject Subtest consists of 55 multiple-choice questions and 1 open-response assignment. The Mathematics Subtest consists of 45 multiple-choice questions and 1 open-response assignment. Passing score: 227 on each subtest; examinees must pass both subtests.
There is an on-line tutorial offered free from the state for the Pearson tests. Log into the Homebase Evaluation system (NCEES) and click on the "Professional Development" tab. Then search for the courses listed below. They are self-paced test and can serve as a start for your test preparation.
