Did you know: the best way to build reading skills is ... to read?
Decades worth of research has consistently shown that two things are important in a student's reading development:
1. Time spent reading - the more time students spend reading, the better they get at reading.
2. Student choice in reading materials - students develop their reading skills when they are allowed and encouraged to choose their own reading materials based on their individual interests. That includes magazines, comic books, online reading, audiobooks, etc.
Stay tuned for ideas on how to make time for reading and help your child choose reading materials they'll love!
