Veterans Day:
For the first two months, all students learn to sing a selection of patriotic songs and perform as a grade-wide chorus for the Douglas School Veterans Day program in early November. In addition to learning how to sing as a large group, this long-standing tradition enhances 5th graders' social studies curriculum of early America. The songs and example videos are below.

Over the course of the year, students will learn the fundamentals of fretted string instruments on the ukulele. Topics include strumming, tuning, and playing notes and chords.
