7 Blue Social Studies

Welcome to the wonderful world of social studies with Dr. Contini. During our time together this year we will be exploring American history from the founding of our nation to more modern movements such as the Civil Rights Movement. Our conversation will focus on aspects of liberty, equality, and justice. I look forward to going on this social justice journey with all of you.

Our essential questions for the year are:

  • How does one's identity shape and affect one's experiences?

  • How has the “we” in “We the people” changed over time?

  • How do stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination affect us and our nation?

  • To what extent has our nation lived up to the values on which it was founded?

  • Why is it important to be a critical thinker?
