For Transportation Infrastructure Professionals
We all know America is facing an unprecedented skilled labor shortage and our country’s ailing infrastructure is being hit hard. Forbes recently stated, "Roads, highways, bridges, locks, dams, harbors, water systems, and airports have been neglected or only marginally repaired in the last twenty years” and the impact on skilled labor jobs to repair and replace the infrastructure is immense. However, there are not enough skilled workers to meet the oncoming demand!
Traditional public-schools continue to tout college as the quintessential element for every student’s future and are doing little to encourage entrance into the high demand field of transportation infrastructure. Plumbers and electricians have organizations like the IBEW apprenticeships. Linemen Electricians have the Linemen’s Colleges.
The men and women in the Transportation Infrastructure Industry have nothing. They have no viable organization to lobby on their behalf, no representatives to bring young people into the industry, no preparation programs to educate and train new employees... but APA’s goal is to change that one phase at a time.
Our primary mission is to motivate, inspire, and inform essential workers in the transportation infrastructure industry through teaching, training, and certification but our vision is to reinvent the certification/training experience so when you send a student to APA, they come back not just with book knowledge but also with hands-on experience.
