Tampa Bay & Beaches 2024
Our story from Tierra Verde to Carrollwood—and the hearts behind the flood cuts.
The Storm and the Call to Serve
When the 2024 hurricane events swept across Tampa Bay, homes weren’t the only thing left underwater—hope was, too. From Tierra Verde to Carrollwood, families across our community faced unimaginable damage. The calls started coming in immediately. In Pinellas alone, at least 11,675 homes were rendered uninhabitable, with 236 destroyed and 11,439 sustaining significant structural damage or flooding requiring major repairs. Hillsborough County reported 151 homes destroyed, 1,709 with major damage, and 2,630 with minor damage, totaling an estimated $1.8 billion in residential damage, and Pasco County documented 9,430 reported incidents of damage (Tampa Bay Times). We were faced with the heartbreaking reality that no matter how fast we moved, there would always be more people waiting. We performed flood cut after flood cut—every job a race against time, every home a new chapter in someone’s story of loss. It was one of the hardest seasons we’ve ever faced as a company—but also one of the most defining.
"O Lord, we call upon You in our time of sorrow, that You give us the strength and will to bear our heavy burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of Your divine compassion. Be mindful of us and have mercy on us while we struggle to comprehend life's hardships. Keep us ever in Your watch, till we can walk again with light hearts and renewed spirits."
The Miracle in the Middle of It All
As overwhelming as it was, something remarkable unfolded. Many of the people who helped us answer the call were themselves displaced—out of work and uncertain of their future. These were cooks, housekeepers, and groundskeepers from beachfront hotels that had been shut down due to storm damage. We were able to bring them into the fold almost immediately. What we witnessed over those 90 days was nothing short of a miracle: a team of people, many of whom had lost everything, working with unmatched purpose, passion, and heart. They reminded us that even in disaster, there’s beauty in coming together.
Sleepless Nights, Tireless Days
For nearly three straight months, our emergency crews worked around the clock. Our owners, executives, and upper managers slept in their vehicles—sometimes outside of job sites, sometimes just in between calls—because the need was that great. The lines between office, field, and leadership disappeared. Everyone picked up tools. Everyone showed up. Our only goal was to help as many people as we possibly could. And while we couldn’t reach everyone, we gave every ounce of what we had to those we did.
Choosing Integrity Over Advantage
In the midst of chaos, it was disheartening to see many out-of-state companies exploiting vulnerable families. Prices were inflated, promises were empty, and trust was broken. We made a different choice. We charged only what was necessary to keep going—often completing work at just 25% of the market rate at that time, never exceeding insurance based pricing, and often billed far below based on the need and means of the family. We didn’t do it for recognition. We did it because it was right. Because in times of crisis, integrity matters more than margins, and people matter more than profits.
From Crisis Came Clarity
That season changed us. The inability to help everyone who called wasn’t just painful—it lit a fire. We knew we had to grow—not just in size, but in structure. Since then, we’ve overhauled our communication systems, improved our internal processes, and launched a consulting arm to help homeowners walk through permits, paperwork, and rebuild efforts even if they’re going it alone. Today, we’re not just restoring homes—we’re helping people rebuild lives. That’s the calling we carry now.
These Photos Tell a Deeper Story
As you view the photos below—images that document flood cuts in every corner of the Tampa Bay area—we ask that you look beyond the damage. See the people. See the workers. See the faith that held this mission together. These were not just emergency jobs—they were acts of service. Our prayer is that Tampa Bay never experiences a disaster like this again. But if it does, we’ll be ready—with stronger hands, wiser hearts, and a deeper understanding of what it truly means to show up in faith, compassion, and community.
Prayer of Saint Francis: "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring love. Where there is offence, let me bring pardon. Where there is discord, let me bring union. Where there is error, let me bring truth. Where there is doubt, let me bring faith. Where there is despair, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, let me bring your light. Where there is sadness, let me bring joy. O Lord, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love, for it is in giving that one receives, it is in self-forgetting that one finds, it is in forgiving that one is forgiven, it is in dying that one awakens to eternal life."
