Mr. David Wetherill is in his 15th year teaching in the Abington School District. As the middle school’s band director, he is responsible for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade concert bands, the instrument lab courses, 6th grade general music, the A-Town Jazz Band, the A-Town Lab Band, Montco Honors Band, and pit orchestra.
A resident of Montgomery County all his life, Mr. Wetherill is a 2005 graduate of North Penn High School and was always actively involved in North Penn’s music programs. He attended Penn State University where he performed with a variety of bands and ensembles including Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, many brass quintets, trumpet studio, Pride of the Lions Basketball pep band, and the Penn State Marching Blue Band. Mr. Wetherill graduated from Penn State in 2009 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Music Education. In the summer of 2014, he completed his Master's of Music in Music Education degree at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA.
Aside from his teaching responsibilities at Abington, Mr. Wetherill spends time performing in several big bands and brass quintets around the Philadelphia area.
During his free time, Mr. Wetherill enjoys running triathlons, snowboarding and surfing, watching Phillies and Eagles games, and spending time with his wonderful wife and three children, Liam, Nolan, and Lucy.
Teaching in Abington School District has been truly enjoyable for Mr. Wetherill and he loves working and making music with all of his students!
