Students enrolled in Reading 8 will meet 5 days a week to complete content across various texts that encourage the development of critical- thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication skills. In addition students will work to strengthen their comprehension skills in one specific area one day a week while utilizing the online program of Study Island. Students will explore both Fiction and Non-Fiction Texts to help develop reading strategies to strengthen comprehension and enhance their learning experience.

Over the course of the year we will complete a minimum of 2 novels, The Giver and The Ousiders and a Non- Fiction Unit, consisting of short articles. Through these, and other texts, we will develop comprehension skills and challenge ourselves to seek deeper meaning.
