Special Education Services

Special Education is a specially designed instruction, at no cost to the parent, to meet the unique needs of individuals. Often students with identified disabilities have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Special Education can be a range of services provided by educators and specialists including: the general education teacher, resource specialist, special day class teacher, school psychologist, speech pathologist, school nurse, therapist, support staff, and more. Parents/guardians, student, administrators, teachers, and specialists make up the IEP team to develop, monitor, and evaluate student progress towards goals and accessing to the curriculum. We strive to ensure students receive a free and appropriate public education.

Does my child need Special Education?

Special Education is based on data and an evaluation of an identified need or disability (learning, physical, and/or psychological). Have you spoken with your child's teacher and academic counselor? A Student Success Team meeting could be the first step in identifying what are the needs, and possible accommodations or interventions that can be implemented to help your child. As a school, we desire the least restrictive environment for your child, meaning maximized time learning, as appropriate, with his/her peers who do not receive special education.
