“Volunteering programme”
It was really hard to teach my teens the topics demanded by the syllabus for this school year in this term. Actually, being a teen, in general, is highly tough because it is a time full of physical and psychological transformations that teens don’t know how to deal with. Besides, being one in a very competitive and technological environment is even harder and difficult to cope with.
There is no doubt that teens have to face a world full of negative emotions, social anxiety, fake friends, and social media that they don’t sometimes know how to get rid of. But I haveto admit that I was very keen when asking them to write some words on the topic -“Volunteering programme” and they did it quite well at the resource centre. Everything went very satisfactory on the first day that they had to explore the topic in a real or imaginative way. Nevertheless, it was ambiguous to send them back to me to be published in a school newspaper either because of their shyness or fear of being exposed to the others.
So I don’t know how to help them overcome this difficulty of assuming that some issues have to be discussed widely and freely in class.
Debating with them is even worse due to the fact that they don’t have arguments on how to express their opinions and feelings and that's why they end up saying ”I like it and I think it and that's it”. Even those we don’t have any kind of linguistic barriers are a “desert of ideas” when discussing in class because there is a “bullying atmosphere” created by them and it is not their fault but our society that is not preparing them properly.
So I decided to create a kind of compromise to watch a film and listen to some music which will help them to discuss some issues in class.
All in all, I am glad with them because they are trying to change their attitude towards their lifestyle and for me three essays are enough to reflect the inner vivid change attitude regarding education.
Here we go with three short essays on the topic “Volunteering in the 21st century”.⚫

The Volunteering Experience
I started volunteering about 1 year ago. Before volunteering, I used to donate old clothes to the homeless shelter and I did some activities like that in scouts when I was ten, too. One day I saw an advertisement on television about helping the homeless and volunteering in homeless shelters and since I was old enough to volunteer for this project I joined it. At first I wasn’t very happy there, I was tired and a little bored but, as time passed by, I started conversations with some of the people at the shelter and made a lot of friendships there. Everyone at the shelter knows me now and I know them. Every day I look forward to waiting for my shift so I can chat with my friends there and, of course, help all the homeless people by feeding them, giving them clothes and trying to make them happy by chatting and playing card games with them when I am done with my shift. Volunteering has definitely made me a happier and more responsible person and not just that; it has also increased my social skills which makes me feel it is very rewarding knowing I’m helping other people. Helping others also makes me feel safe because I know if I ever need urgent help, there’ll always be someone glad to help with my problem even if they’ve never met me before.
I think that’s the beauty of this world, caring for others in need. ⚫

My first volunteering experience was with a local community organization that aimed to support children in need. Walking into that vibrant room filled with eager faces, I could even feel the energy of positivity and hope. The initial nervousness quickly turned into excitement as I realized the potential to make a difference, no matter how small.
One of the most transformative moments occurred during a tutorial session. It wasn't just about giving back; it was about fostering growth and inspiring change. Volunteering opened my eyes to the great dimension of humanity. I got involved in various projects, from environmental cleanups to organizing events for the elderly. Each experience taught me valuable lessons about empathy, teamwork and the power of collective action.
There's something truly magic about seeing a community coming together for a shared cause. ⚫

I started volunteering a year ago. It was part of a school Program that I decided to Participate in.
I was hesitant at first, however, I decided to go.
The first time I went, I wasn't sure how to feel about it.
I wasn't sure if I was doing the work correctly, but as I started to go, week after week, I got used to the work and it became a regular part of my weekly Schedule.
Volunteering has taught me about being myself and not being afraid to try new things. This experience has changed my Perspective and how I shape my Views.
I want to continue giving the work my effort and maybe even start volunteering in other Projects!.⚫

A kind of storyteller…
This year I started the storytelling time through a children’s book entitled “Dear Spookysaur”.
It was written by Chae Strathie who is an important children’s writer and a journalist.
He lived in a little village surrounded by a forest in Scotland.
The illustrator of this book is Nicola O´Byrne.
She was born in Swaziland but now she lives in Los Angeles.
When she was 5 years old, she wrote her first picture book and the illustration of this one is something so amazing that appeals to the reader to be a faster one.
Max is one of the main characters of the book who wants to give everyone a big fright on Halloween day. He wishes to be as fearsome as a dinosaur. One day Dora (Max’s friend) invites him to a SPOOKTASTIC Halloween party in the grand hall of the museum.
Max can’t wait to tell his friend T.Rex that he’ll be coming to see him soon and so he decides to write letters to his “scary” dinosaur to ask for advice and tips because he is sure that T.Rex is the best one to give him some tips to scary his friends at the museum and …
Throughout the book you’ll find out letters full of terrifying and funny advice, jokes and…
Read and wait to see if T.Rex is as spooky as you can imagine now!
