When pupils move up to secondary school, it is important that they have a Young Scot National Entitlement Card for a variety of entitlements including access to free bus travel in Scotland between the ages of 5 and 21.

Already have an active Young Scot NEC (16+ only)

If you already have a Young Scot National Entitlement Card, are over the age of 16 and would like to activate this for free bus travel you can transfer free bus travel onto your card without having to apply for a replacement.  The app is now available on Google and Apple stores.

Transport Scot Pass Collect App

If you are aged between 16 and 21 and already have an active Young Scot NEC you can download your free bus travel using the Transport Scot Pass Collect app

If you are unable to download your free bus travel, you will need to apply for a new Young Scot National Entitlement Card.  

Troubleshooting

What happens after I apply?

The Young Scot NEC card will be sent to your home address.  Once your child has their card, it's theirs to keep.  It is important that the application is completed as soon as possible.

Note: If your child already uses a card at Primary School you will still need to apply for a new card, as this one will need to have a photograph on it.

If you are applying on behalf of a child aged 5-15 you will need a mygovscot myaccount - if you don't have one, you can register here.
