A Parent Council is a group of parents who represent all the parents at a school. Any parent with a child at the school can volunteer to become a member of the Parent Council. Parents can be members of the Parent Council for as long as they have a child at school.
Parent Councils can also choose to invite members of the local community and school staff to join their Parent Council. Elected Members can also be invited to attend meetings.
Almost all schools in Aberdeen have a Parent Council. Each school has set up its Parent Council in the way that suits them best with support from the head teacher and Aberdeen City Council. The Parent Council operates very flexibly and generally has a chair, vice-chair and treasurer who are chosen from the members.
Entrance is free and there will be a selection of stalls; including crafts, Christmas wreaths, balloons, a children’s author, build a bear and much more!!
There will also be snacks, treats, teas and coffees; games, crafting and raffles, raffles, RAFFLES!!!
Money raised at the Fayre and through the raffles, will be used towards purchases and activities that benefit the school and pupils.
In the past, funds raised through previous events have been able to provide iPad’s, Chromebooks, helped towards the cost of school trips, including this year’s panto; as well as discos and P7 leavers jumpers.
Without the kindness, generosity and support, in previous years, from parents, families, residents and businesses, within our local community, none of the above would have been possible; so come along, have fun, make memories and support the School, however you can.
