A Chemical Reaction occurs when two or more substances undergo a chemical change and a new product is created.
This can be summarised as:
Reactant 1 + Reactant 2 --> Product(s)
Chemical changes can occur at different speeds.
The speed of a reaction is called its rate.
We can measure the rate of a reaction by looking at how quickly a reactant is used up, or a product is formed.
On the next page you will be able to look at a few examples of chemical reactions.
