We at Quarryhill are dedicated to providing the best education for all our pupils. This page is a large part of the 'behind the scenes' changes that have taken place over the past year. The inspection in January 2024 was a reflection of the beginning of that journey and one we intend to complete. All staff have been hard at work implementing new ways of teaching that meet the specific needs of our pupils.

Below is our Numeracy progression. It has an outlined pathway and a rational behind each year group. Simply, a teacher works through the small steps, making sure each pupil has understood it and connected it to the previous learning. You can ask the teacher what small step they are teaching and you will be able to see exactly what is happening in class!

Below is our Literacy progressions. This is a little more complex than our numeracy progression as there are three distinct areas of literacy in the curriculum: reading, writing and listening & talking. In reading we are focusing on VIPERS. As for writing we have a progression for each year focussing on different types of texts. We use a phonics based approach for teaching spelling. We've linked videos below explaining some of these concepts.

Below is or Feedback Policy.  We are extremely proud of this policy as it lets or learners know how they are getting on. It is a vital part of the learning journey and we see it as key to our sustained success. Behind the scenes we work hard to give our pupils feedback that enable them along their learning journey.
