The Scottish Government publish attainment data for all schools on a platform called Insight in September. We have shared a selection of this data below. Behind the scenes, we go into a lot depth to ensure our strategic planning is robust and evidence-based. We're delighted by the progress we've made and the opportunity to share this with you.
The Scottish Government publish attainment data for all schools on a platform called Insight in September. We have shared a selection of this data below. Insight analyses national attainment data to predict how well our students would have done if they attended another school. This is called the virtual comparator (VC).
Below our S4 lowest, middle and highest attainers can be seen to outperform our virtual comparator by a good margin.

This indicates the value we add to their learning at Oldmachar Academy.
Insight assigns each course a points value - the higher the level of course, the higher the grade and the more points assigned.
Below our S5 lowest, middle and highest attainers can be seen to gain more subjects, at higher levels and with better grades than our virtual comparator, Aberdeen City or National Average.

And it's not a one off. Our attainment has risen year on year since the pandemic.

We have had a focus on Literacy and Numeracy and have risen from consistently below our virtual comparator to far exceeding it. This trend has been year on year.

The table below shows the attainment for our S4 cohort. As you might expect almost all of our students gain a level 5 qualification and most get 5 @ Level 5. Our dedicated teaching staff work hard to ensure an English and Maths qualification for all, with 100% gaining 2 or more qualifications. Within our top 20% of attainers we encourage those who can to challenge themselves by attempting Higher Maths, Chemistry, Music, PE and Art early where it is of benefit to them. 36.76% of our S4's earned 2 or more Level 6 qualifications last year
Level 6 is equivalent to Higher and Level 7 Advanced Higher

You might have heard about the Scottish Government's ambition to reduce the gap between the attainment of the most affluent in our society and those living in the most deprived areas. At Oldmachar Academy that ambition is a reality with all of our learners achieving (above the National average) no matter their postcode.
