SCILL, Supporting Children in Learning for Life is a Deeside based charity to support children with neurodiversity and additional support needs and their parents. No formal diagnosis is required.
All our sessions are in a relaxed format usually with smaller groups and allow children to access activities that they otherwise would miss out on. For most of our activities, we invite siblings along or a best friend and the parent joins in the session too.
In the past few months we have had held sessions at KnockieHill Woodland Centre, a Stand up Paddle board session and weekly dance sessions at the Deeside Dance Centre.
We are having another X-Hail with Lyns session on Wednesday 19th Nov at 5pm at the Deeside Wellbeing Collective Hub (Spaces available). The session is guided by the children with some craft and movement fun. £6 per child and £4 for sibling.
Our next block of dance sessions will be held for 3 weeks from November 27th till December 11th the Deeside Dance Centre at 3.50pm till 4.50pm. If you would like to try a class then get in touch. £6 per child and £4 for sibling.

For the past year parents have been talking about how they support their children at home when it comes to learning about friendships and relationships, growing up and puberty, being safe and topics like consent. Parents have also talked about wanting their teenage children to understand about relationships and sexual health. We have also taken time to talk about what parents know and think about nursery and school-based learning. In nursery or school this will be called Relationship, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) learning. We have talked about what parents want to see in terms of how school and home should work together to support learning.
We are now launching our report and celebrating the fact that parents are their child’s most important educator on all these matters. Find the Chat report at www.thechat.scot As well as the full report there are some graphic representations of what we have learned, and a narrated short PowerPoint that will help share news of the Chat findings.
We are inviting interested parents and colleagues to come to a lunchtime webinar to hear more about the project and the findings. This is on Thursday 21st November 12.30 -1.15pm. Book here https://link.webropol.com/ep/thechat
