Triple Award success for Harlaw Wider Achievements

Grampian Regional Equality Council (GREC) and Action for a Fairer World (AFW) presented Harlaw Academy with three prestigious awards. The first Anne Frank Award was for the impactful work of Harlaw Defenders in anti-bullying initiatives, children's rights and equality & diversity. The second Anne Frank Award was for promotion of diversity and inclusion witnessed through the diversity of Wider Achievement Awards at the 2026 ceremony. The third, an AFW Award was for the meaningful & impactful work of the Wider Achievements programme in promoting rights & participation and for equality, diversity and inclusion. We thank GREC & AFW for their kind recognition of our hard working staff and very talented pupils.

Wind Energy Winners

Congratulations to the winning team from Harlaw Academy who attended the Wind Energy Challenge and took first place. What a fantastic achievement. They showed such enthusiasm and even with a team member down were able to secure the winning position. Romana Richards, Operations Lead | DYW North East.

Robotics Scottish Champions

Harlaw Academy's Low Voltage came first in Scotland with their robot. A huge amount of work went into planning, developing, testing and reviewing their robot to get it ready for competition. Low voltage are driven, determined young people who wanted their robot to be the best. As Scottish Champions, they won a place at the UK Championship in London. Low Voltage competed well but did not win, however, aim to use the experience to win there next year.

We are very proud of their achievements, especially for a relatively new club. We wish them every success as they continue to compete nationally. You can see the Low Voltage website in the Wider Achievement section.

This year we wanted to celebrate what unites us: our vibrant cultural diversity.

Pupils created posterboards and ran stalls, with henna, face painting and a photo booth. School pupils wore their cultural dress for the day.

This was pupil-led, with the help of volunteers and prefects.

After a huge amount of positive feedback, this will be the first of many to come!
