As you may know our school motto is 'By Learning and Courtesy.' This new charter which has been co-developed by young people and staff is a central part of our commitment to ensuring that every young person feels safer, valued, supported and respected. The attached charter focusses on four key areas that we believe are the foundation for a positive school culture.

At Harlaw Academy, we are committed to promoting positive attendance and punctuality, ensuring every young person is supported to engage fully in learning.

We work closely with young people, families and partner agencies to provide timely support, helping young people feel safe, understood and supported during challenging circumstances.

Better Relationships, Better Learning is at the heart of our approach to relationships. Through positive relationships built on respect, courtesy and inclusion, we create a safe and supportive environment where every young person feels valued, connected and ready to learn.

As Corporate Parents It is vital that everyone plays their part in tracking, monitoring, planning and implementing interventions to support young people who are Care Experienced.

At Harlaw Academy, our Mobile Phone Policy has been developed with the voice of young people at its heart. Following consultation with students, we have adopted a "Bag or Box" approach that balances the benefits of technology with the need to create calm, focused learning environments where everyone feels safe, respected and included.

Through close partnership with our associated primary schools, young people and families experience a smooth transition into secondary education, ensuring they feel safe, included and ready to learn from day one.
