Curriculum for Excellence

Across this site, you will see reference made to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence levels.

Curriculum for Excellence is the national curriculum for Scottish schools, for learners between the ages of 3-18 years.

The image below shows the progression through the levels of Curriculum for Excellence.

Some children and young people will start learning at these levels earlier and others later, depending upon individual needs and aptitudes. The framework is designed to be flexible to allow careful planning for those with additional support needs, including those who, for example, have a learning difficulty and those who are particularly high attaining.
