S2 English & Literacy

The S2 English course has core thematic units. Within these core units  leaners will develop their talking and listening, reading and writing skills in a variety of contexts. Learners will also be exposed to a wide range of texts and write for a variety of purposes throughout the year.

The course is designed to build upon the key skills taught in S1 English, whilst also continuing to develop the skills required for effective progression into the National 4 and 5 courses, as well as life and work. There will be opportunities for learners to experience a range of teaching approaches and texts. 

Core units include:

Core Unit 1:     Crime and Detective Genre

Core Unit 2:     Animal Research Unit  

Core Unit 3:     Detective Unit  

Texts studied will include prose poetry, drama/media as part of the S2 course. Learners will also have the opportunity to develop their oracy skills and engage with a range of personal reading texts.
