S2 English & Literacy

The S2 English course has core thematic units. Within these core units  pupils will develop their talking and listening, reading and writing skills in a variety of contexts. Pupils will also be exposed to a wide range of texts and write for a variety of purposes throughout the year.

The course is designed to build upon the key skills taught in S1 English, whilst also continuing to develop the skills required for effective progression into the National 4 and 5 courses, as well as life and work. There will be opportunities for pupils to experience a range of teaching approaches and texts. 

Core units include:

Core Unit 1:     The Advertising Unit

Core Unit 2:     The Animal Unit  

Core Unit 3:     Detective Unit  

Pupils will also cover prose poetry,drama/media and the main genres of writing as part of the S2 course.
