Good morning band students! As we discussed last week, I am not here today. Mrs. Chen is here to make sure you stay on task and will let me know of anyone who is not a positive member of the ensemble today. Please make sure everyone has music for "African Spirit Dance." There are copies for everyone, if needed. Perucssion... take a new one as your instrument assignments have changed since last year. Also... Tristan... your horn is behind my desk. The case is getting repaired. You can put it back behind my desk when you are done with class.
Take ownership and make the most of your time together! Remember... it can be tricky to play without a conductor. Actively count rests, and keep the tempo as consistent as possible. If you start out a piece, say "1, 2, ready, go!" in the tempo of the piece. I hope you have a wonderful day!
7th Grade Brass/Percussion - 1st Hour (7:55-8:42)
Amish - Take attendance on the sheet of paper I left for you in my band binder. Once that is done, take it up to the office.
Try to run your PA#7 two times. Count carefully and keep the tempo steady!
March of the Irish Dragoons - Ethan and Owen are in charge. Work through in sections: m. 1-11, 11-19, 19-31, 31-44, 44-52, 52-56, 56-64, 64-73, 73-end. Try to combine sections and maybe see if you can get all the way through it once you have larger chunks of the piece together without stopping or falling apart.
Lord of the Rings - Michael and Tristan are in charge. Work through in sections: m. 1-9, 9-22, 22-30, 30-42, 42-54, 54-64, 64-72, 72-80, 80-85, 85-91, 91-95, 95-103, 103-107, 107-end. Try to combine sections and maybe see if you can get all the way through it once you have larger chunks of the piece together without stopping or falling apart.
Legend of the Queen Anne's Revenge - Simon and Will are in charge. Work through in sections: m. 1-7, 7-17, 17-32, 32-43, 43-57, 57-64, 64-76, 76-86, 86-92, 92-104, 104-114, 114-end. Try to combine sections and maybe see if you can get all the way through it once you have larger chunks of the piece together without stopping or falling apart.
African Spirit Dance - Amiyah and Bianca are in charge. Do you remember how to play it? Try running through it and seeing how you do!

Please recycle your copy of "Rain" and take a copy of "The Falling Rain" from Mrs. Chen. We will begin work on it on Wednesday.

Try to combine sections and maybe see if you can get all the way through it once you have larger chunks of the piece together without stopping or falling apart.
Huron Bay March - Mrs. Chen will pick two people to be in charge. Work through in sections: m. 1-25, 25-53, 53-69, 69-end. Try to combine sections and maybe see if you can get all the way through it once you have larger chunks of the piece together without stopping or falling apart. DON'T FORGET TO COUNT IN 2/4 NOT 4/4!!
Andromeda Overture - Mrs. Chen will pick two people to be in charge. This will be very tricky to run without me (especially the middle section), but do your best! Work through in sections: m. 1-12, 12-20, 20-28, 28-38, 38-46, 46-54, 54-62, 62-70, 70 (take DS)-12, 12-20, coda to end. Try to combine sections and maybe see how far you can get without stopping.
African Spirit Dance - Mrs. Chen will pick two people to be in charge. Can you play all the way through it? Give it a try, and regroup at the nearest boxed number, if you fall apart.
