Please the item that you are cutting in the Vise or to an object with clamps.
Mark the object that you will be cutting to guide your cut
Place the saw, teeth down, on the item you are cutting and gently pull back to make the first cut. (You may need an adult to help with the first cut)
Be sure that you keep the saw blade straight and gently but firmly move the saw. You can move the saw back and forth or you can pull the saw back towards your self, lifting it and resetting it with each stroke.
When you are getting close to the end, be sure that you saw extra gently so as not to splinter the wood on the last cut.
Always wear eye protection when using a hand saw.
Do not test saw teeth on hands or fingers to determine whether a hand saw is sharp.
When preparing to cut wood, inspect the wood stock for nails or other imbedded objects that could damage the hand saw.
Begin cutting by starting carefully and slowly to prevent the saw blade from jumping or binding.
Place stock in vise or hold stock firmly when sawing.
Use the length of the blade during each saw stroke.
Always carry a hand saw by its handle with the saw end pointed down.
When finished with the hand saw, return it to its assigned storage place.
