Open jaws
Position pliers. Get the flat parts of the jaws into the best possible position
For cutting, ensure the wire, or whatever is to be cut, is positioned between the blades
Close the handles with your hand. The jaws will come together.
You shouldn’t use anything to extend the handles of pliers, or hit then with a hammer – use larger pliers instead.
Oil pliers and wire cutters regularly. A drop of oil on the hinge will make the tools easier to use.
Don’t use pliers as a hammer: most pliers are not strong enough for this.
Keep pliers clean and dry them before storing, as steel exposed to moisture will rust.
