NORTHSIDE School
1939-2014
Students from Mrs. Lafferty's Class focused on the history of Northside School. They thought like historians throughout this project. Their thinking culminated in the creation of a historical marker for public display. 8th-grade students from Ms. Bednar's African American Studies class helped them to create a podcast. Did you know that A2 STEAM used to be Northside School?
Northside School was built in 1939 so the school could be closer to students’ homes. The first principal was Katharine Harrington. Later, Harry Mial was the principal. He bought ice skates for all the students to use on the ice rink at Northside Park. Northside School became A2 STEAM in 2014.
Northside used to have its own auditorium.
