PI/CPC

Public Information & Cooperation with the Professional Community (PI/CPC) Committee

The Public Information and Cooperation with the Professional Community (PI/CPC) Committee consists of two overlapping functions, Public Information and Cooperation with the Professional Community.

PI service provides accurate A.A. information to the public when requested. PI volunteers visit schools, libraries and attend business and community meetings for this purpose. They also serve as resources for the local media, emphasizing our traditions of anonymity, singleness of purpose and non-affiliation, as well as offering AA public service announcements to radio and television stations.

CPC service provides information about A.A. to those who have contact with alcoholics through their profession, including health care professionals, educators, members of the clergy, lawyers, social workers, union leaders and industrial managers, as well of those working in the field of alcoholism. CPC volunteers provide information about where we are, what we are, what we can do and what we cannot do. Volunteers may give presentations to city police forces and parole officers and have participated in information classes for new parolees. Information on the availability of A.A. services can be dispersed via letters, letting people know what A.A. has to offer and who to contact for more information, a meeting or a service function.

There is a lot of support for this position particularly from the Oregon Area PI and CPC chairs, as well as many of the District 15 trusted servants.
