Google Meet is a video conferencing tool that allows students to connect with teachers and classmates in real time. It is used in AACPS for virtual instructional days as students can join from any device, share their screen to present work, and use chat to ask questions or share ideas.
Students can only join Google Meets; they cannot create them while logged in with their AACPS Google account.
You must be logged into your Chromebook or Chrome Browser to use your teacher's Google Meet link. If on a tablet, you will need the Google Meet app installed.
Google Meet is found in course navigation (secondary) or the resource tab (elementary). In the event of a virtual instructional day, select Google Meet to find your teacher's meeting link.
I have the link to my Google Meet, but I can't get in.
A teacher must be in the Meet before students can join. Wait, and try the link again closer to the meeting time, or contact your teacher for assistance.
I can see my teacher (or another student), but I can't hear them talking.
Make sure the volume on your device and/or headset isn't muted. If your volume is turned up, then the teacher or student may have muted their mic. If there is a red circle with a microphone in the bottom corner of their picture, they are muted. Right click on the tab in Chrome to ensure it isn't muted. If you see the option "unmute" the tab is muted, click unmute.
The video feed in Google Meet is poor and/or keeps freezing.
This is probably due to a poor internet connection or not enough bandwidth. Make sure all unnecessary browser tabs are closed. It is important to not have other devices such as video streaming and online video gaming connected to the internet or MiFi during this time when students are in class.
I can't see all of my classmates on the screen.
Change your Google Meet layout. Go to the bottom right corner and select the three vertical dots (more options). Go to layout and select the tiled or auto option. Note: Meet can show a maximum of 49 participants on the screen.
Whenever someone talks, their picture shows on my screen and I can't see everyone else.

My audio just cut in my Google Meet and I can't hear anything.
Refresh your Chrome browser. You will be kicked out of the Meet, but you will see a rejoin button to hop right back in.
I got kicked out of my Google Meet and can't get back in. What do I do?
The classroom teacher needs to manually add the student back into the Meet on the Meet People Tab. Then, send the URL link to the student via Brightspace or email. Contact your teacher for assistance.
