This course provides the foundation for the visual arts high school program of study. Students will experience a variety of media and processes while exploring two- and three-dimensional art problems in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media. Critical and creative thinking skills will be integrated into all studio experiences.
Drawing & Painting
With a focus on drawing, painting, and mixed media, these courses will further your ability to create realistic works of art on a flat surface. Realism and abstraction are taught. More advanced classes focus on refining skills and preparation for AP Drawing.
Photography/Graphic Design
Learn to take better pictures AND edit them to improve quality and stylize. Students will improve composition skills and photo editing skills. Advanced lighting techniques and special effects explored in upper levels. Work with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create digital artworks.
Sculpture
With a focus on clay, 3D design, and additive and subtractive methods of sculpture making, these courses will further your ability to explore art in the round. more advanced classes focus on refining skills and preparation for AP 3D Art & Design.
