Cultivating a Culture of Readers @ Your Crofton HS Library
The growing body of research supports the benefits of reading for pleasure at all ages. Reading isn’t only associated with increased academic success, it also has been shown to increase empathy, improve relationships, reduce depression, and enhance well-being throughout life! For health, happiness, and success we invite our staff and students to participate in our book clubs and library reading incentive programs.
Lunch Time Book Club is a fun, all inclusive club, for any students & staff members, interested in great teen reads and discussion. The club meets once a month during A day lunches. There is one book club group for each lunch period.
Five for a Prize reading incentive program encourages students to independently keep on reading and book-talking. Students receive prizes and are entered in monthly drawings for every five books read.
Maker Space “A makerspace is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials.” John J Burke
National Poetry Month is a day students celebrate by selecting a poem, carrying it with them, and sharing it with others throughout the day. Students have opportunities to complete poetry activities all month long in the design lab.
