Mr. Zumwalt
The Crofton High School library is a comfortable, safe haven where students and staff can access information, read for pleasure, and gain the skills to be successful in life
Mission
The mission of the school library is to serve as a hub for learning, exploration, creation, and connections. Foundational to this mission is a collection of resources from print and digital materials to creation tools. We work collaboratively with our school community to provide effective integrated programs and instruction that meets the needs of all learners, increases student achievement, and builds a sense of belonging and community.
Vision
Our vision is for this library to become the heart of Crofton High School - a place where students and staff come to gather, learn, collaborate and expand their horizons. With our help, students will become savvy consumers of information, excellent researchers, creative thinkers, and lifelong readers. Through technology old and new we will help all members of our community find new ways to learn, create, and explore our world.
Philosophy
Books, reading, and the communication of knowledge are the foundation of all learning.
As a library we collect, share, and embrace books.
But we are more than just books.
A 21st Century library is a place with ancient texts and cutting edge technology. Our knowledge and stories can be found online and on our shelves. They can be accessed 24 hours a day from anywhere on the planet.
We learn, but we also create.
This place we call a library is the collected home for everything that has ever been created by humans and it is the foundation for all that will be created.
Read, explore, and discover what is contained in this room and then go out and create something worthy of adding to this celebration of humanity.
