FOR COMPLETING SUMMER OF SERVICE
Refer to the service requirements outlined on the Request Service Approval page to determine what a Summer of Service can or cannot be. If you are having trouble identifying a Summer of Service opportunity, please visit the "Need Help Finding an Opportunity" page. We recommend utilizing the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Center teen portal.
Once you submit a request, expect a response within 5 business days from "noreply@aacps.org" with a message indicate your experience has been approved or denied. If your experience has been denied, please identify a new opportunity and submit a new request. ALL EXPERIENCES WILL BE APPROVED OR DENIED BY JUNE 5TH, 2019.
NOTE: Requests may be submitted after June 14th will be processed as quickly as possible.
*You will be unable to access your log prior to June 17th, 2019*
You have been placed into "Summer of Service Classes" based on the beginning of your last name. Please locate your correct class by visiting the "STEM Service Liaison" page and click on the included link to submit your hours into the log.
You submit your hours by day. This means, that if on your first day of service you completed 5 hours, you would submit an entry to the record indicating you worked 5 hours for that day.
IMPORTANT: You must type your full name correctly into the appropriate fields in order for you log entry to be stored in the correct folder. Failure to do so may result in your log being placed into the wrong folder.
Your final service hour log submission must be completed by August 30th, 2019 so that the STEM Office has adequate time to review your hours and you have time to create your web page (resources found here). This will provide ample time to ensure the creation of a product representative of your time and dedication to the service opportunity.
Please publish your site and set your settings to "public" to ensure everyone can see your web page if they have the link. Visit this link and log into the system with your student ID and password. You will see a location to input the hyperlink to your web page. Once you enter the hyperlink, click submit. You will receive a confirmation to the email address provided.
Juniors will attend the first family night for incoming 9th graders to present their service to their peers, their parents, and the local community during a walk-around event integrated into the night. More details to come soon, be sure to check back!
