Your identified service opportunity must meet the following criteria:
- The service cannot be in someone's home - the service must be based out of a community location.
- Your service must be something that could be described as "giving back" to a community. For example, answering phones for a local organization would not satisfy this requirement.
- You have to have a location mentor which should not be confused with a STEM mentor (who is assigned to you by the STEM Office). The location mentor will be the point of contact for your STEM mentor in the event of any questions or concerns. The location mentor will also be the person to sign off on the hours which you complete. So in total, you have two mentors throughout the duration of the Summer of Service.
To decrease the time it takes to submit your request, please have the following information readily available:
- Student primary contact email and phone number
- Parent/Guardian primary email and phone number
- Location of intended service opportunity
- A one paragraph write up describing the services you will be participating in with your identified opportunity
- Location mentor's name, primary email address and phone number (and title, if applicable)
- Additional information in PDF or Microsoft Word format for upload
