When Your Child is Sick

Please contact YMS at 207-363-4214 as soon as you decide to keep your child home from school due to illness.  When calling to report your child absent, let us know what type of illness your child is experiencing.  This information helps the school nurse to monitor and track cases of communicable disease such as strep throat and influenza (flu).  

If your child has a contagious infection such as pneumonia, strep throat or conjunctivitis (pink eye) ,  he/she should stay home 24  after starting antibiotics(at least 3 doses) and  is fever free without the use of fever reducing medications for 24 hours.
