All fifth and seventh graders at York Middle School are screened for distance vision and hearing acuity. These screenings are mandated by the School Health Advisory Committee of the Maine Department of Education. Additional screenings are offered to students who self-refer or are referred by a teacher or parent/guardian. Parents will be notified only if screening results do not meet the state approved criteria. In that instance, the parent will receive a written referral for further evaluation. Please share with the results of the eye care specialist’s findings with the nurse.
