Drawing

This piece is extremely detailed and well planned. The various textures work together to create a very interesting portrait. There is a mix of hard and soft lines, black and white, and positive and negative space. I aspire to be able to draw like this. My current understanding of how to use lines and blocks of color to form a portrait is pretty limited. Also I have little experience with black and white charcoal. After observing this piece I want to experiment more with black and white charcoal and different ways of communicating depth and detail with them.
