7th Grade Band Information
Welcome back to band!!
Below you will find required materials for band class. For other important information including grading policies, rules and expectations, and concert attire please review the Hanes Band Handbook on this website.
Required Classroom Materials:
Pencil
Paper
1” Binder
Sheet protectors
7th Grade Continuing Band: Standard of Excellence Book 2 (please make sure you get the one specific to your child’s instrument!)
Instrument Specific Materials:
Flute: cleaning rod and cleaning cloth
Oboe/Bassoon: TWO FOX reeds and cases, case for water (35mm film case works well), cork grease, and cleaning swab. **Bassoons must also have a seat strap**
Clarinet: swab, cork grease, THREE VAN DOREN reeds, and reed guards/case
Saxophone: swab, cork grease, THREE VAN DOREN reeds, and reed guards/case
Horn: rotor oil, mouthpiece, and mouthpiece brush
Trumpet: 5C mouthpiece, valve oil, tuning slide grease, cleaning snake, and mouthpiece brush
Trombone: 6 ½ AL mouthpiece, slide lubricant (Slide-O-Mix) and spray bottle, tuning slide grease, cleaning snake, and mouthpiece brush
Euphonium/Tuba: small shank 6 ½ AL mouthpiece for euphonium, Bach 18 mouthpiece for tuba, valve oil, and mouthpiece brush
Percussion: stick bag, Vic Firth SD 1 snare drum sticks, Innovative Percussion IP240 yarn mallets, and Vic Firth T1-General timpani mallets (another option: Innovative Percussion FP2 Intermediate Mallet Pack OR VicFirth EP2 Intermediate Mallet Pack- includes all required materials)
Other Materials (not required but highly suggested):
Tuner/metronome: these can be purchased as separate items or one; the Korg TM-40 is a very good metronome/tuner combo
Music stand: for at-home practice
**Parents: Please let me know if you are interested in your child switching to a higher-level instrument. I have names and suggestions of good instrument and mouthpiece upgrades.**
