2H is “Ready to Learn”
I will begin the school year using a behavior system that I call “Ready to Learn.” This behavior plan allows for children to feel good about their day and learn from their actions. The idea behind the plan is to focus on the positive and help learn from the negative.
Every day the children will start with a clip on the green slot of the behavior slide, green means ready to learn. Green is ultimately where the children should be the majority of the time. It is important to focus on the phrase “ready to learn”, which is what second grade is all about. The chart has two colors above and two colors below green (see the slide below) to allow for movement to reward behaviors or reinforce better choices. The children have the whole day to move up and down on the behavior chart. If a child makes a mistake, they can certainly reprieve themselves and start going back up.
Your child will have a monthly calendar in their homework folder. The calendar will go home daily to chart the children’s color at the end of the day. This will encourage our home and school connection. Our goal is to encourage students to follow our school L.O.O.P. pledge by making good choices. We want to nurture our students to make the connection that good choices will have a positive impact.
