Launching the Reading Workshop will show the students what our Shared Reading Workshop looks like; along with how Independent and Guided Reading will work. During this time, students will be benchmarked and shown how to select "just right books."
During the launching part of Writer's Workshop, the students will be learning how to gather various types of entries in their Writer's Notebooks. Students will be decorating their notebooks in class. (Information will follow.) These entries will serve as a springboard for a "seed idea" for their personal narrative.
The first chapter of Math will have the students exploring odd and even numbers and place value. Students will learn how to show numbers through standard, written, and expanded form. Students will enjoy being taught in a workshop model, with small group instruction and engaging centers which will enhance their learning.
