I am excited to implement "Keep the Quote" in second grade this year. Keep the Quote is a fun, weekly, goal setting system. On Monday morning, students will have the option to bring in quotes that they think our class should use as a motto for that particular week. (I will always have a back up quote to use in case none are brought in.) The students will read their quotes aloud, and we will vote to see which quote should be our motto for the week. The quote will be displayed throughout the entire week. On Friday, we will review our success following the quote and the student whose quote was chosen as our motto for the week will select one student to actually "keep the quote." The student whose quote was displayed that week will have a very important job - to be on the lookout for someone who truly displayed those traits and characteristics that week. On Friday, this student will reread their quote, tell the class what it meant one more time, choose the student who keeps the quote, and tell him/her why s/he gets to keep it. The student who was selected has to be someone who was really demonstrating that quote.
