6th Grade Homework & Attendance Policies

Completing assignments on time is an essential part of the learning process. The following guidelines apply across all sixth-grade classrooms:

Late Work Policy

• Initial Entry: Any work not turned in on the due date will initially be entered into Skyward as a zero and marked as both late and missing.

• 1 Day Late: Submissions received the next day may earn up to 80% of the earned grade.

• 2+ Days Late: Submissions received after one day late may earn up to 50% of the earned grade.

• Grade Updates: Once late work is submitted, the gradebook will be updated accordingly.

Absence Policy

• Skyward Status: If a student is absent, assignments will be designated as missing in Skyward strictly for communication purposes; no grade penalty will be applied.

• Make-Up Window: Absent work is not penalized if submitted within a timely manner. Students are allowed a minimum of one day per absent day to make up missed assignments.

In-School Support & Homework Expectations

• In-School Work Time: Students are provided multiple opportunities during the day to complete work, including during regular class time, Homework Club during recess, and daily academic time.

• Nightly Homework Limit: Homework should take no longer than one hour per evening. If your child is routinely spending an excessive amount of time on homework, please contact the teacher to discuss support options.

Student Organization & Resources

• Assignment Books: Students are responsible for updating their physical assignment books daily. Reminders are provided during end-of-day homeroom.

• Classroom Website: This website serves as a supplementary resource to help students and families stay aligned on daily homework requirements
