Hello!

I couldn't be more excited about working with you this school year! I look forward to meeting you in person and getting to know you, but until then, I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born and raised in West Lafayette and graduated from West Lafayette Jr/Sr High School (RDP!) and Purdue University (Boiler Up!!). I had always thought about being a teacher, but I also wanted to learn about the restaurant industry. I grew up watching my family own and operate a pizza restaurant in town and was naturally drawn toward the business. What I loved most about working in a restaurant was the fast-paced environment and meeting new people.

I transitioned out of my role in restaurant management once my children started school. I thought that working in a school would provide a similar fast-paced environment and opportunity to meet new people, so in 2017, I began working at Happy Hollow (now WLIS) as a paraprofessional. I always said that if I were to go back to college I would become a teacher, and that's exactly what I did - I enrolled in the Transition to Teaching Program at Indiana Wesleyan. I began teaching 6th Grade in January of 2020 and have loved working with 6th graders ever since!

I currently reside in West Lafayette along with my husband and two children. We enjoy traveling together and are planning trips to Mexico, Switzerland, and Puerto Rico over upcoming school breaks to visit family and friends. When I'm not teaching, you are likely to find me wearing a grey t-shirt and jeans, drinking coffee, and enjoying the outdoors with my family and friends. I am fortunate enough to have my parents, my sisters, and my life-long best friend living nearby - all who have supported me as I returned to school and started my new career.

I truly am so lucky to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this year. It is my honor to be a part of your lives, and it is my hope that you will feel comfortable in reaching out to me at any time with questions, comments, or concerns. I am typically at school between the hours of 7:15 AM and 3:30 PM. If I can't be reached immediately, I will respond within 24 hours. If there is an urgent situation, please be sure to contact the school office at 765-746-0500.

I look forward to a wonderful, exciting, and productive school year together. Welcome to our classroom!

Sincerely,

Krista Rodriguez
