Intellectual Property for Open Educational Resources

The OpenStax College has a nice system where they state:

"all content produced in OpenStax is available under a Creative Commons open-content licenses. This makes it easy for authors to share their work - allowing others to use and reuse it legally - while still getting recognition and attribution for their efforts. "

See their frequently asked intellectual property page for more information. As does OpenStax, we will be using the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.

For additional information on licensing, check out the Creative Commons and their frequently asked questions page on intellectual property for educational resources. In particular, their subpage gives insights into critical terms such as "copyright", "public domain", an "adaption" of work, and so forth.

Creative Commons also gives insights into sharing of data.

We will use the agreement below for our site. The various pieces of the language are adapted from the Minds@UW Distribution License, the OpenStax-CNX license and terms, and Stuart Shieber's model open-access journal publication agreement.)
