Github will allow us to maintain an ongoing dynamic version, the "beta" version.
As content is approved by editorial teams, it will be placed on the web.
The dynamic version will be our best approximation to the most relevant, cutting edge content.
Making the content widely available will provide opportunities for feedback and improvement.
As the book matures, we have an option to make a stable version using WordPress. For example, we might maintain an annual static version. For example, we could:
Each year, tentatively May 1, we will "freeze" the version to offer a stable product.
This will allow faculty to plan for an academic year that begins in the Fall.
Students will be able to print this version and know that it will remain stable throughout the year.
Our translation teams will be able to work over the summer months to produce a quality translation suitable for use beginning in the Fall.
As web space is inexpensive, at this point we see no difficulties in maintaining all the historical copies of the book, thus providing authors with long-lasting recognition of their work.
