Background

Many people were involved in the making of 'Windsor's Revolution.' It was truly a group effort, and I would like to thank everyone who participated in the process. 'Windsor's Revolution' began as a small webpage designed to support the Revolutionary Windsor 2001 event. The students in the Windsor High School Computer Club (for which I am the advisor) were asked to create the web site to support the town's efforts. We met with members of the Town, and with members of Griff and Land Corporation to plan our work. Soon afterwards, we were contacted by SS&C Technologies in Windsor, who offered free consultation on the development of the site. Of course, we jumped at the opportunity to work with them, and the project grew in size. Then I was contacted by Bill Warner-Prouty at Sage Park Middle School. He was looking for a web site he could use with 8th grade students that illustrated the Revolutionary War. We decided to incorporate that into the site as well. 'Windsor's Revolution' was becoming a very large project by this point. I decided that the size and scope of the project warranted my using it as my Master's Degree final project, and I was able to secure approval for this from my advisors at Central Connecticut State University. The site was now officially an educational website, and the real work began. I spent four months researching the project at the Windsor Historical Society, and eventually was able to produce a detailed flowchart and storyboard for the entire site. The staff at Sage Park Middle School were excited about the project, and eagerly approved. The Computer Club students and I then took pictures of the Revolutionary Windsor 2001 event, and I took pictures of houses, scanned documents, created artwork, and wrote the copy for the site. Finally, members of the Computer Club and I programmed the site over the Thanksgiving weekend. I think the result is a terrific site, which is accessible to students of Windsor of all ages. I hope you agree.
