Town Clerk's report

Post date: Nov 16, 2016 7:57:37 PM

The Presidential Election drew 72 percent of the voters in Williamstown – 3,623 of the 5004 registered voters in Town.

This is was first time with Early Voting with 873 voters participating during the 11 day event. We held additional hours of two evenings, one at the Harper Center, and a Saturday morning. Early voting made a significant difference on Election Day with minimum lines for voters and voters seemed quite pleased with the opportunity to participate in it.

Absentee ballots were requested by 345 registered voters and 60 ballots were requested by Specially Qualified voters.

Precinct 1 was one of the 60 precincts chosen from a lottery by the Secretary of State to perform a State mandated hand count audit of the ballots casts. The lottery was done on Tuesday, Nov. 15th, and took 2 ½ hours to complete The results were filed with the Sec. of State at the end of the day. There was minimal change to the total results, with the change being from voters not filling in the circle, but underlining their vote resulting in the machine casting their vote as a blank.

I would like to thank the many poll workers who worked hard during early voting and on Election Day.

Also poll workers who participated in the audit and to Haley Meczwor Town Clerk in Adams and Carol Jammallo, Town Clerk in Clarksburg who also assisted with the audit.
