I am happy to report that the Gale Road improvement project is complete. We can expect a road surface life span of 15 years or more. The project included the replacement and improvement to the storm drain system, full depth reclamation of the roadway, a 3 inch depth install of the binder base course , a 1.5 inch top course overlay and new curbing.

The Highway department has completed an Asphalt overlay to the road system in Westlawn Cemetery. The department also rebuilt a headwall on Blair Road after a surprising collapse.

All sanders and plows have received pre-season repair and maintenance and are ready for the winter. Sand and road salt are fully stocked. Gravel roads are receiving final grading as needed and the road sweeper remains in use.

The Highway Department has received the shipment of a new Volvo Excavator from Tyler equipment , Longmeadow Ma. All properly licensed highway department employees attended an operational and safety class related to the excavator.

Highway Superintendent, Chris Lemoine has been elected as President of the Berkshire County Highway Superintendent Association. Chris attended a Tri County Highway meeting on November 15 to learn about updates regarding workplace safety and health protection, as required by the Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards.
