Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency
To All MEMA Stakeholders,
On Wednesday, January 13th, MEMA will launch a newly organized website. This project was done with the goal of improving the usability of the agency’s website so we can easily deliver important information to the public and to our stakeholders. This means that all of our URLs, with the exception of our landing page (www.mass.gov/mema) will change on Wednesday. If you have bookmarked any MEMA pages you will need to update your bookmarks. Additionally, if you have links on your websites that connect to ours, you may need to update the link(s).
Once the new site is launched, it will be organized into six broad categories: About MEMA (general info, directions, job opportunities), Be Prepared (Ready Massachusetts materials focused on build a kit, make a plan, be informed, get involved, info & tips for access and functional needs and pets), Emergencies & Disasters (hazard specific information and preparedness and safety tips), After a Disaster (information on Individual Assistance and other recovery programs, donating and volunteering post disaster, and how to protect yourself and property during the recovery effort), News, Reports & Publications (press releases and MEMA reports), and Resources for Public Safety Officials (contains all of the relevant information for our stakeholders including information on training, grants, Public Assistance, SEOC and resource requests, field support, mitigation, state plans, maps, local templates and best practice guides, WebEOC, Training Registration System, Resource Management and the HHAN, and the SERC and LEPC/REPCs).
During this process, we worked to group together the information and resources most accessed by our stakeholders. Once the new webpages are launched, most, if not all, the day-to-day resources, information, and guidance you will need can be found within the Resources for Public Safety Officials section. This section can be found by looking at the left side of our landing page (www.mass.gov/mema) and clicking on the last block, entitled “Resources for Public Safety Officials”. If you know what you are looking for you can use the drop down arrow, which will allow you to click on the following sub-categories:
Training, which will include course offerings, exercise information, and conference announcements and previous conference presentations.
State Emergency Plans, which lists the state emergency response plans.
Mitigation, which will provide important information about Hazard Mitigation including planning guidance.
Response Coordination, which will include information about the State EOC, Emergency Support Functions, mutual aid, Fire Mobilization, and communications support.
Field Services, which focuses on MEMA’s deployable assets.
Maps, Tools & Templates, which includes tools, guidance, and best practices for state and local public safety officials. This also includes local planning templates.
FEMA Public Assistance, which provides information on the PA process and provides applicants with necessary information on open disasters.
Grants, which will provide application and administrative information for all grants administrated by MEMA.
On-line systems, which will provide an overview and links to WebEOC, RMS, TRS, and the HHAN.
SERC, which provides background information on the SERC, LEPC/REPC guidance, and hosts meeting minutes.
We will continue to enhance and improve our website. We hope that this re-organization will make it easier to access the information you are looking for. If you have feedback, please feel free to send it to me.
